Land Warrior Rifle Club offers one of the most approachable ways to try real firearm shooting near Edinburgh.

Located in Dalkeith just outside the city, the club operates a modern indoor live-fire range where visitors can safely experience target shooting under professional supervision.

The Live Firing Range Experience is designed specifically as an introduction for beginners. After arriving, instructors guide you through safety procedures, equipment handling and the basics of shooting technique before you step onto the range.

You’ll shoot a .22 calibre rifle at indoor targets while instructors supervise each lane and help adjust your stance, grip and aim.

The session typically includes around 60 rounds of ammunition and one-to-one instruction, giving you plenty of attempts to improve your accuracy and get comfortable with the rhythm of shooting.

Extra magazines can also be purchased if you want more time on the trigger.

What makes this experience stand out is how structured and beginner friendly it is. You don’t need previous shooting experience and everything is explained clearly before the first shot.

Our Take & How to Enhance the Experience

The surprising thing about shooting is how quickly it becomes absorbing.

The first few shots feel mechanical while you learn the basics. Then suddenly you start adjusting your breathing, controlling the trigger more carefully and watching the target more closely.

Pro tip from us dumbasses: there is a button beside the door to press and staff will let you in. We could not figure this out for the life of us, haha :D

After succeeding with the challenge of entrance, the instructors explain everything clearly, so the experience quickly becomes comfortable even for first-time shooters.

Another good tip is to consider buying a few extra magazines of ammunition. They’re inexpensive and it means you can spend longer enjoying the activity once you start getting into the rhythm.
