Heat, Steam, and a Ritual That Resets You

You know that feeling when warmth hits your skin and everything else becomes less urgent? That is what you will find from this experience. A proper sauna session strips things back. No screens. No rushing. If done properly, no noise and no blabbering. Just heat, steam, cold water, and the quiet satisfaction of sitting still with the people you chose to bring along. Letting go of the mental chatter naturally brings you into a deeper state, and you quickly find that beneath the everyday conversation there are more meaningful thoughts waiting to be shared.

What the gift experience is

This is a Soul Water Sauna gift card that can be used at their Portobello, Granton, or Dalkeith Country Park locations in and around Edinburgh. Granton features two cedar wood fired saunas with open air showers and cold plunges. Portobello sits right by the sea, allowing you to move between heat and cold water in a natural cycle. Dalkeith offers a more tucked away setting where you can rest between rounds surrounded by trees.

Sessions can be booked privately or as shared. The experience focuses on proper Finnish style sauna with real heat, real steam, and space to move through rounds at your own pace. Expect a simple and grounding environment where the ritual of heating up, cooling down, and resting becomes the core of the experience.

Who it’s for

Best for:

  • People looking for an authentic sauna experience with real heat and steam.

  • Couples or friends who want a shared ritual rather than a spa treatment.

  • Anyone needing a full mental and physical reset.

Not ideal for:

  • Those uncomfortable with high heat or with medical conditions that make sauna unsuitable.

  • Anyone expecting a fast paced activity or a luxury spa setting.

Variations

You can shape the experience depending on how social or private you want it to feel. Some people join community sessions and enjoy the shared atmosphere of others moving through the same ritual. Others book private sessions for their own group so they can set the pace and keep the space personal. There are also ritual style add ons with a sauna master, including steam infusions, whisking, and guided elements for a deeper experience.

Our Take & How to Enhance the Experience

Treat this as a ritual rather than something to squeeze into a busy day. Give yourselves time before and after so the session feels like a special time for yourself. Evening bookings work especially well when the light is lower atmosphere is cosy and intimate and the energy naturally slows.

Bring water or juice for afterwards and a towel you actually enjoy using (please avoid bringing your roughest towel...). Move through rounds slowly. Sit outside between heat sessions. Let silence happen if it wants to. Some of the best connection in a sauna happens without trying to fill the space. When you step back into the cold air after the final round, you feel lighter and clearer in a way that lingers long after you leave.
